About
"I'm just a soul who's intentions are good, oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood." -The Animals
I have spent the majority of my life adapting to what I thought other's wanted me to be rather than passionately chasing after what I wanted. So much so, that when asked what I wanted in my mid-30's, I really couldn't even tell you...and that's sad. And to this day, that answer isn't as clear as I would like to think some fifteen years later. But what I do know, is when I put one foot in front of the other, and do the next indicated thing, refusing to get lost in the misery of yesterday or the anxiety of tomorrow, the present is a gift that keeps on giving.
I don't have all the answers, but today I realize I don't have to, which is very freeing.
I don't have everything I want, but today I have all that I need.
And now that I have realized peace and contentment are my ultimate goals in life, I can examine my actions to see if they line up with those desired outcomes. Holding myself accountable today to that truth is the only way to live an authentic life that is mine, and mine alone.
My hope is that you can find some identification in what I share. Perhaps a bit of inspiration to do some of your own self-discovery. The great Greek philosopher Socrates is attributed with stating "an unexamined life is not worth living". I choose to take liberties with those who have stated much more eloquently than I ever could and as such I may 'borrow' from time to time from those that have aided me in my journey, giving credit of course.
We are one people, one world, one human race, let's live and learn and love together as we journey through and within.
